The Death Of Baseball?

To paraphrase Mark Twain: the rumors of baseball’s death have been greatly exaggerated. The death of baseball is already right around the corner, and with the four 2009 LCS teams coming from the 10 list of team salaries I can understand why. But if you watched any of the games you would have seen that some really good baseball has been played. Case in point: last night’s Yankee win over the Angels. A very exciting game with zero home runs. That’s right, the Yankee’s won a game

without hitting a homerun. In fact, all of their runs were due in large part to sacrifices (three bunts, and a sac fly). A little small ball got it done for the Yankees. That should have made my wife happy, had she been paying attention to the game last night. I, for one, am looking forward to the World Series. I would have preferred to see the Twins in it, but I would also prefer to see the Twins with a team worthy of the World Series. So don’t be sour about the combined payroll ($314 million), nonexistent parity, steroids, Bud Selig, or any other distractions. It’s the fall classic, regardless of the teams involved. To paraphrase Mike Tice: Enjoy the [post]season!

Thanks for the shout out. And I was half paying attention to the game. I cannot handle the stress of watching 100% these days. I get too emotional and then get nothing else done. Multi-tasking helps.
