Deja Vu

Funny how some things jump out at you. I wasn\’t even really looking at the TV this morning, but this movie trailer caught my eye, and about ten seconds into it, and with nothing to base it on except what I\’d seen that far in the trailer, I thought:

Sweet, a Tony Scott film.

Sure enough, I was right, which in some ways is a little bit scary. I have at least written before that I\’m a fan of his visual style, so it wasn\’t completely out of left field.

Needless to say, I\’ll be seeing this film.

    Apropos of very little:
Don’t try this at home folks, I’m a trained professional. There’s me, and there’s Super Dave.

Re: Tony — As y’all may know, Roger Ebert is still in recovery, so various Hollywood types are taking turns in his seat on “Ebert and Roeper.” Tony Scott was on last Saturday and was terrific: knowledgeable, interesting, and with (for obvious reasons) a very informed and developed point of view. (As a former theater critic, I get pretty jazzed about seeing other folks do the crit thing well.)

Roeper made a reference to welcoming him “back” on the show, so it sounds like he’s done the gig multiple times. If you’re a Tony Scott fan — or generally a movie fan — his stints on “E&R” are definitely worthwhile.

i had to look up tony scott on imdb to see where else i would know him from– a handful of favorites, particularly “enemy of the state.” he also is the EP of “numb3rs,” which i think is a great show and is underrated only because it airs on friday nights. (although the series took a bit of a hit in my opinion when sabrina lloyd left.)

quasi-relatedly: is it me or did kilmer look like he was trying to revive the chris knight look/persona in the trailer?

So tacky, Anderson. wadE, I think this is his fourth bout with cancer. Details are, natch, available through Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roger_Ebert#Battle_with_cancer.

Oh, and I couldn’t agree more about Gene Siskel!
