Odds n' Gambits
- Alex
I was going to subject you to another baseball Gambit about the Twins trade on Friday, but I think Aaron Gleeman
summed it up well enough, so just go read that if you're
interested. Or if you're too lazy, and want the summation of the summation, well I'd call it: All right, that's a good start, now show me the big bat.
I seem to have developed a coding twitch, where when I go to close an italic tag I keep typing /AI instead of just /I. Does anyone know if Allen Iverson has
been dabbling in subliminal messaging?
So let's do a quick run-through of the site stats, since I haven't done that in a while.
Couple of fun new entrants into The Jerk Report. First off is Foro Estupida Fregona, which by my
best slap-dash Spanish translation means: Fregona's Stupid Forum. So points for creativity there. The only other Jerk of Note was
http://www.tuppjuck.com/forums/index.php, and really I'm only including it because it's got a logo featuring
a surly duck in a santa hat. Who am I to resist that?
Same old song and dance on the search hits, for the most part. A healthy dose of the regulars: sue bird, alex bledel, cupcakes, girls kissing, law and order
svu, slimer. Only one hit so far for barney fife, but the month is still young. Also had two hits for jeff wiggins, which makes me giggle in
same way it did when we were getting hits for matt faber and levon larson. If anyone wants to know more about Jeff, though, I'd be happy to invent
several slanderous things to email off. Just let me know.
And finally. . .
Attended my second Turkmas on Saturday night - a conjured holiday invented for the sole purpose of celebrating with family and friends because they are unable
to celebrate Thanksgiving together. So we had a nice discussion over the Turkeynog as to which other holidays we should invent, because hey, any chance to sit
around with friends and over-eat, right?
We came up with Valentrix, to be held in early March; Laborween, to be held in late September; and Memipendence, to be held in mid-June.
Any others? Post 'em to the Forum, yo. And since I'm self-aggrandizing, don't forget that the
Card Project is now in full swing. And have yourself a case of the Mondays while you're at it. Go ahead, it's
on me.
* For liability purposes I should point out that there was not an actual drink called Turkeynog - I might be crazy enough to invent the Waffle, but I'm not
insane.
