Fall Ramble
-Wade
Dammit. And I was going to be more vigilant about my gambits.
Today was the type of day that makes me wish it could be October all year long. Cool but not jacket weather, blue skies, turning leaves but they're still on the trees... perfect.
Today was the type of day that makes me miss being a college student. Walking to Holland Hall to my political philosophy class, basking in the sunlight, enjoying the lifestyle where my only "responsibility" was keeping up on my Plato and Friedman. Oh, and my two hours / day at the Academic Computing Center. Yes, I've been a nerd for a decade now.
I'm not sure if it's the academics that I miss, or if it's the freedom to just... walk outside... pretty much whenever I wanted to. Dain is flexible but not to the point where we can hold meetings on the streets downtown. And who would want to? Between the buses and planes, there aren't many places that offer peace and/or quiet. But it'd still be better than a conference room with no lights and a flourescent glow.
There are approximately two weeks a year where I wish I could move my desk and computer outside. We're in that stretch now. Then it's cold. Then snowy. Then muddy. Then hot. Not that I'm high-maintenance or anything...
So, happy fall. Enjoy it before it's gone-- blow out of the office for an afternoon walk. I know I enjoy them immeasurably.
