Agreeing with Sid?

I never thought I'd live to see the day... well, I actually I thought Sid would never live long enough for this to happen, but he wrote something I agree with!

I wonder why there's so much panic at Winter Park.

First you had Vikings coach Mike Tice's great impassioned speech in front of his team Monday. Then there was a decision to bring in consultants Foge Fazio and Jerry Rhome. Players gave different versions of what Tice was talking about.

This team is without two of its best players from last season, wide receiver Randy Moss and center Matt Birk. Quarterback Daunte Culpepper has an injured knee. A fourth player -- Kevin Williams, a near unanimous Pro Bowl selection at defensive tackle last season -- is not dominating, as he did a year ago.

Even with all those players in peak form, the Vikings (1-3) would have not won the games at Cincinnati and Atlanta. They never win games on the road against good teams.

You can say they should have won the Tampa Bay game at home, but check the records of the teams that have beaten them -- the Bucs and the Bengals are unbeaten, and the 3-1 Falcons are the only team to have defeated the Eagles, although they did lose at Seattle.

Let's face the facts. This is not a great football team. Their personnel is not as good as any of the top 10 teams in the league. And not only is their quarterback playing on one leg, but you have more injured players on the sidelines than this team has had in years.

It's not often you get solid, accurate, non-sarcastic, sports writing in this city. As much as Sid's a blowhard, he's dead-on with his assessment. As opposed to the drivel that Reusse puts out.
