Playoff Predictions
- Alex
From the same idiot who predicted a Titans Super Bowl, a
Red Wings Stanley Cup, and a Colts
Super Bowl (need I even say that's an 0-for-3?), here it is, your guide to the 2005 MLB Playoffs:
Division Series:
San Diego v. Saint Louis: Series of the blessed saints, big whoop. I like the Padres to make life difficult for the Cards, but in the end they're just
not quite good enough. This round goes to Saint Louis.
Houston v. Atlanta: I think last year was the first time Houston had ever won a post-season series, and with that murderer's starting pitching row of
Clemens, Pettite, and Oswalt, they should be a good bet to keep that trend. However, the true demon of last year's series was Carlos Beltran, who's off slacking
it for the Mets, so I like the Braves to move on, because I don't think the Astros can hit enough to win, even with that pitching. Decision, Atlanta.
Boston v. Chicago: Battle of the Sox! I like the Sox to win this one. Ha! Seriously though, Boston wins.
New York v. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Sponsored by Busch Lite Draft, or Whatever the Hell They Are This Week: This could go either way, so in
the spirit of not wanting to see Sox/Yanks part two billion, I pick the Angels, and may the Force be with us.
LCS:
Atlanta v. Saint Louis: Good pitching matchup, but I think the Braves have more bats than the Cards. Would be a different story with Rolen, and a healthy
Walker and Sanders in the StL lineup, but not this year. Atlanta wins.
Boston v. LAAofA: Should be a slugfest. I think that Boston is gonna tend to win a slugfest. So that's my pick. Sox Sox Sox.
World Series:
Atlanta v. Boston: Boston's the defending champs, and they've got home field advantage, where they bat like 8 billion points higher... but the Braves
have the pitching, and they won't be using Keith Lockhart as a DH (unlike some previous World Serieses I can think of). And here's the Atlanta history: Loss in 91,
Loss in 92, Win in 95. Loss in 96, Loss in 99, so this is the third time... I like the trend: Win in 05.
So there you have it. The Atlanta Braves are your 2005 World Series champs. Seriously, with hockey starting tomorrow, why even bother to watch? :)
