NWA: Impending Strike
- wadE
It doesn't sound good in regard to the
impending strike
of Northwest Airlines mechanics.
I'm a pretty liberal guy, and pro-union. My father wouldn't have made half of the little he did
if it weren't for the union. But I'm also from Austin, where I've seen unions go too far, and
destroy a town.
When I read things like this it's hard to stay pro-union:
This week, Local 5's Web site began to carry photos of suspected replacement workers caught on camera outside a hotel in nearby Dearborn.
"All you can do is make their lives a miserable hell the rest of their lives," Sutton said.
Keep in mind that Sutton is the Vice President of the local union. Add to that this
additional quote: "I'm going to spend every last bit of energy fighting this company." Nice...
It's not against the law for someone to be a "scab", and I do hope the union doesn't turn violent,
but as someone who's seen it before, I'm not holding my breath. Especially when it comes to folks
from Detroit... :-\
