It's a funny name. Get it?
So I was doing a little light reading at CNN.com this morning. It
seems that some newspapers have pulled today's Doonsbury comic strip in light of it using some off-color language. Turns out that all they're using is one of
President Bush's pet names for his trusted advisor, Karl Rove. Bush is big on the pet names. I couldn't find a link to it, but I remember one of us talking
about the time it came out that his pet name for Vladamir Putin (you know, the leader of Russia - of course he's got a pet name) is "Pootie Poot". In any case,
Rove's nickname?
Turd Blossom.
Christ. It's like we've got Jason in the White House or something. Come to think of it, J'd make a pretty damn good president in six years when he's of
age. I'm looking forward to National Tuna Fridays and the way that he'll refer to Vice President Anderson as "That no-talent ass clown VP of mine".
I'd like to think that, as a nation, a little sophistication (not even a lot of sophistication - just a little) from our leaders should be a natural
expectation. But I guess when Pootie Poot and Turd Blossom get together, all bets are off.
