Recchi to the Pens. Oveckchin to the Caps. Amonte and LeClair sent packing from the Flyers. Crosby to the Pens. And Mario's coming back for another year.
What? You thought this was going to be about baseball? Sorry fans. As much as I love the baseball, this week's trading deadline isn't all that interesting.
But hockey's been gone long enough that I've realized that I missed it. A lot.
And what with the new salary cap and rules, it's possible that a team like Pittsburgh (which had hands-down the worst team in the league) could go from the
#1 pick in the draft (Mr. Crosby, for the record) to the playoffs just like that. That's definitely good news, especially for the Canadian teams. Now Edmonton and
Ottawa can actually keep their decent players, and so on, and so forth...
The bottom line is that hockey is coming back, and I'm more excited about that than where the latest supposed "ace" pitcher (with a career losing record) is
going to end up on the diamond.
