Terror Attacks
- wadE
I'm sure by now you've heard about the attacks in London from earlier today. I'm continually
shocked that terrorists of any kind (Islamic, Christian, Communist, whatever) really think that
attacks like this will help their cause.
Is it just some sort of Hammurabi style eye-for-an-eye against the G-8 countries? Do they
believe that the troubles and suffering in their own country, or other parts of the world are
the fault of countries like France, UK, and the US (which admittedly may be partially true)?
Do they think that if they kill some of our citizens that things will improve?
I suppose it's a tactic to at least get your viewpoint heard, but a group like al-Qaida can't
really think that any sort of attack like this will make any of these countries reconsider their
pursuit of them...can they?
To me it all seems so pointless and tragic.
Slightly more pointless than Bush's comment to Americans to be "extra vigilant". What kind
of insipid advice is that? Really!
As someone who is about to travel to Europe for a few weeks, I'm somewhat concerned, but
taking even more wonderful advice from the Shrub, I will go about my regular business, except
of course I will be extra vigilant!
