Young Lovers in Love
- Wade
Awwww. (blush)
Gosh. Do these two need a room?
No, those aren't a couple of high-schoolers on their way to lovers' lane. In fact, it's President George W. Bush with Saudi Crown Prince Abdullah, walking through the tulips at Duyba's ranch in Crawford, Texas. What do you think these two crazy kids talked about during the Prince's visit? Their mutual admiration of Maroon Five? How Britney's fifteen minutes are SO over? How no one can understand how their love is different than what anyone else has felt before?
Probably not. I'm guessing the Texas Tea topic dominated most of their conversations-- specifically, what can the Prince do so us Americans don't have to spend so much to fill up our Escalades and Explorers? Because George and Abdullah have such an amazing amount of respect for each other, and for each other's government, we can soon expect gas prices to plummet.
Not that oil has anything to do with it. I'm sure Dubya would cozy up to the Saudi leader even if he wasn't sitting on so much of the natural resource. Like when he invited the Premier of Luxembourg to the White House for croquet. Or when the King of the Greater Antilles and his wife went to happy hour with George and Laura. We love all foreign leaders equally.
Well, with a slight exception. We love all foreign leaders provided that their country is set up as a Democratic Republic, a la the U.S. In our infinite wisdom (read: 200+ years) we Americans have determined that democracy is the way to go! Our form of government can cure whatever ails you, trust us. Look-- we've got a spotless track record, and little-to-no unrest within our domestic or foreign policy arenas. So if you've got problems in your country, republic, commonwealth, or territory, step to the plate and reserve your copy of Democracy: The Government! Proudly made in the U.S. of A., natch.
So that must explain why we see George showing as many PDAs with the Prince as he does with his wife: Saudi Arabia fully embraces the ideals of representative democracy, and runs itself like just another American state; a Rhode Island with more sand, if you will.
Maybe I'm just and old softie, but it does my heart good to see two people who just plain love each other....
