As I mentioned on
Monday,
I just bought a new house, that isn't quite finished. So what I've done is traded in my anxiety
over finding a house (and avoiding being homeless) for a totally new anxiety, Interior Decorating.
The minutiae of the decisions is mind-boggling. For example, houses don't come with doorstops.
If you don't want a door flying open and putting a hole in your nice new walls, better get yourself
some doorstops. Towel racks... Toilet Paper holders... Toilet Bowel Handles...
There are the obvious decisions, like flooring and siding; but what about lighting? Seems
obvious enough, but have you ever counted the number of lighting fixtures inside and outside
of your house? By my own count, we're over 60 in the new house. That's right, six-zero.
No wonder the budget for lighting is only a hundred bucks less than the budget for appliances.
So I'll do my best to continue my pledge to keep the gambits coming, but if I miss one or two
you'll either have to forgive me, or track me down in the lighting department at Home Depot.
What do you think? Drop us a line at webmaster@simpleprop.com and give us some
feedback. Maybe we'll even run your letters in future Gambits. 'The Daily Gambit' is updated every weekday.
