Re-Org Do-Si-Do
- Wade
Get your org chart / Spin it around
Find your new cube / And please don't frown
Now meet your new manager / And do-si-do
And pack up your stuff / Move to a new flo'
Bow to your neighbor
Yep. It's been a while since we've had a good re-org around here. It happened today, pretty much your standard shuffle of roles and reportees, a few new positions here and there. No layoffs, which is a good thing. It's still stressful, though, especially for folks who have to do the manager shuffle. I've avoided those in the past, not so lucky this time. To look at things positively, the only real change will be my manager's first name and gender, everything else is the same. So I've got that going for me.
In actuality, life shouldn't be that different. Life might actually get easier in the sense that my old manager will now be in a new role that may intercept some of the flack that I get on a daily basis from business partners that I work with. I've grown to really like my manager, though, and I'm more than a little melancholy about not reporting to her anymore.
Also worth noting: in my two jobs prior to this one, I've found new employment within six weeks of my manager leaving. Does that spell the end of our hero's five-year stint at RBC Dain Rauscher Bosworth Pierce Refsnes Wessels? Stay tuned...
