Friday Smorgasboard

Let's start with an aside. Here's my suggestion for all aspiring website writers who want to do a Google image search for 'smorgasboard' as part of
a complete throwaway Friday column: don't do it. Or at least don't do it unfiltered. I had no idea that the word had such pornographic connotations.
Then again, what doesn't turn up porn on the internet? Hakuna matata, I guess.
Yeah, so it's definitely time for a "getaway day" Gambit, meaning of course that it's Friday, and all things considered I'd really just rather it were
Saturday immediately. Right now. Post haste. Forthwith. Postwith. Etcetera.
With that in mind, I've got some links for you.
I can think of no better place (on this site) to break the news that the first season of
MacGyver is coming out on DVD at the end of January. Of course, it will be joined by
Night Court, and Murphy Brown (I can hear wadE cheering from here). I have to say I'm
rather non-plussed by the total market flood that's happening with 80s TV coming to DVD. I still think my idea has some merit. Take some of the best of
the worst of the 80s shows (Simon and Simon, Scarecrow and Mrs. King, Airwolf, etc), and release them as completely random grab-bag episodes in
DVD sets. Is it too late to make this happen?
And finally, caught sight of a picture showing that
Jersey Girl opened this week in Mexico... and they apparently changed the name of it to Unmarried Father. Say what now?
