Good article
in today's Strib.
It's amazing to think that this guy who came to the US so long ago is willing to give up
his comfortable life to go back to Iraq to help in any way he can.
Amazingly enough, I agree with the venerable Sid Hartman
on something. The Vikings Defense and Special Teams did let them down. What a painful game
to watch. While I'm not off the bandwagon, I have moved to the edge after the last few
weeks. Can anyone on the defense step up to help Winfield out? He's the only guy doing
anything out there. As most people know when a DB is your leading tackler, you don't have a
good defense.
This
has been a hot button topic as of late.
This week I'll be travelling for the first time since the new rules went into place on
checkpoint searches. As someone who traveled for a living, I find all the new rules
pretty damn ridiculous. The searches and the methods used to choose people for those
searches are a waste of time. If someone really is looking to get a bomb or a weapon
on a plane, they can get it past security. Groping people isn't going to save anyone's
life. At least they finally started x-raying baggage on domestic flights. When my cousin
(who works in the industry) told me several years ago that domestic luggage wasn't
screened at all, that was scary. I figured we'd have several Lockerbie type disasters
long before anything like 9/11.
Boy that was fun...let's end on something a bit more upbeat:
