Why the Hell Can't I Write Anything Anymore
- Wade
Next to not remembering what band sang a particular song and driving in traffic, the most frustrating thing in my life is writer's block. I can't stand it when it's my turn for a gambit and I don't know what to write about. I surf news websites until I find something I can comment on or, failing that, come up with some drivel about my personal life. Sometimes I just mail it in but I don't like doing that either.
Trying to inspire myself today, I perused some of my gambits from a year ago. And you know what? I wrote some good stuff. Like here or here or here, if I do say so my damn self. Why can't I do that anymore?
Since it can't ever be my own shortcoming, it must be someone's fault. So I blame Al. He's the one that enabled the forum where I now spend most of my creative simpleprop energy. In addition, I now am accustomed to expressing myself in fifteen-word forum posts, instead of the normal 200-word gambit. And, yes, I blame the gambit for my lack of feature articles-- getting me accustomed to 200-word posts instead of the typical 500-word features.
Blame someone else! It's the American way! And if you want any entertainment of substance from yours truly, browse the archive.
