11-year reunion
- wadE
Tonight is my 11-year reunion for high school. Yes, 11-year reunion.
My class had a 5-year reunion. I was even back in Austin for that weekend. However,
when I heard the reunion was going to be a kegger at the Isaac Walton cabin, I decided
that I was too far removed from high school to attend what sounded like a high school
party.
Rumor has it that the girl who put it together (who I believe was the secretary or VP
of the student council...I don't think anyone would expect our president to actually put
anything together... too busy enlightening his mind or something) didn't get money
from everyone who came, so she lost money on the keg, and rental of the cabin.
Because of that she was so bitter she chose not to plan a 10-year reunion. A couple
people actually noticed and started a campaign to gauge interest in an 11-year reunion.
11 months later, it's actually happening. Much to my surprise it isn't going to be a
kegger. It's going to be a dinner at the world famous Lansing Corners.
I have no idea what to expect. A few of the people I keep in contact with are going
to be there, but beyond that I'm not really sure I want to talk to anyone else. I even
question why the hell I am going. If it's anything like high school, each little clique
will sit together and catch up and avoid mingling with the others as much as possible.
And after 11 years, I'm perfectly fine with that.
