Affordable homes...

...starting from the 190's... conveniently located in the south metro... just 10 minutes from Lakeville...in Lonsdale!

That's right... for those of you familiar with the Twin Cities, and actually, more familiar with Rice County that is south of the Twin Cities, you'll know that Lonsdale is a city of about 1,500 people and if you've driven through lately (like I have on my way to New Prague... to go to Schumacher's), you'll know that Lonsdale has a new section of town that is brand new (similar to New Prague actually).

The reason I bring this up is that on the drive in this morning I heard and ad for the new homes in Lonsdale and how great they were! Only 10 minutes from Lakeville? Yeah, if you drive 120 mph... Lonsdale is 22 miles from Lakeville. The best part of the ad is the pseudo-conversation style between a husband and wife and when the wife says how affordable the new homes are, starting at $190,000.

Yeah... that's really affordable.

Interesting facts on Lonsdale:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lonsdale,_Minnesota

http://www.city-data.com/city/Lonsdale-Minnesota.html

The most interesting facts to me are:
For population 25 years and over in Lonsdale
High school or higher: 86.1%
Bachelor's degree or higher: 9.8%
Graduate or professional degree: 0.9%
Unemployed: 3.9%
Mean travel time to work: 28.3 minutes

That mean travel time doesn't seem so bad... but you need to consider how many people work in town, or in nearby New Prague. Either way, when it's 30 minutes just to Lakeville, it's not about to be a fun commute. Maybe Michael Moore is right. Maybe white america is in a desparate mode to move as far away from people like them as possible.

Lonsdale would be great for that!

The racial makeup of the city is 98.66% White, 0.20% African American, 0.40% Native American, 0.13% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.00% from other races, and 0.60% from two or more races. 0.34% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
