This is a companion piece to my Year in Music article. See that for any reference you may need. Thank you.

With that in mind, let's run down the purchases I've made since posting that article:

Thornley: Come Again

This is a solid disc. Actually it's a bit better than I probably would've expected. It's a pretty straightforward rock and roll album (which we all know appeals to me), but it's got some of the texture of the old Big Wreck albums as well. I'll say one thing for Thornley (the man, not the band): The man can write a chorus. They're infectious. You'll be singing them long before you know the rest of the words to any given song. It's good stuff. I'd also like to officially recommend picking up both of the Big Wreck discs. Thomas will tell you that "In Loving Memory Of..." is the one to get, while I'd probably side with "The Pleasure and The Greed", even if only because both Danny Greaves and Myles Kennedy do some backup work on it. Actually I think it's the better disc, period, but I don't wanna have to fight over it. They're all three good discs if you like the hard rock.

Kevin Moore: Ghost Book (Sdtk.)

This disc is killer. I mean, yes, it's a soundtrack album, which means it's a bunch of short instrumental tracks, but it's killer nonetheless. If you like ambient music, this is pretty much a must own. The only full track is the last one, Sad Sad Movie, and it's a good teaser if you're interested in Moore's other regular band, ChromaKey. I hate to call a disc "great background music", because it implies that you're not really listening. But hey, the shoe fits here. Highly recommended.

Matthew Good: White Light Rock and Roll Review

Ehh... this one's taken me a while to warm up to, and I'll freely admit that it's not gonna be for everyone. It's a very raw album that reminds me too much of the new Pearl Jam albums for my own comfort (with the redeeming quality that Good can actually sing, of course). That said there are some really good tracks here, most notably the last four (including the hidden track), and the rest of the disc isn't disappointing... it's just not the bombshell that Avalanche was. I like the disc - but not everyone's going to.

That's it for today, folks. I'll keep you posted as the last two discs from the article make their appearances... the Alter Bridge disc will probably be its own article, I'm that excited about it. Adios.
