Sick/Movie Review
- Wade
oy. it appears that sara and i have caught a none-too-nice strain of the "barf your guys out" flu. it's been an interesting morning at the anderson household, in that sophie isn't the leader in spit-ups.
anyway, i'm loaded with medicine and can't really lift my head up, so this will be brief. if you haven't seen young frankenstein, you should. written by gene wilder, this 1974 classic features wilder, marty feldman, terri garr, and the guy who would later become the voice from brainy smurf! it also features peter boyle as frankenstein-- you'll never look at raymond's dad the same again.
young frankensten was filmed in black and white, and employs a lot of the visual filming techniques used in 1940s and 50s movies. combine that with wilder's twist on a classic story and you're entertained for a couple of hours. the humor is sharp but subtle, even better (to me) than blazing saddles, wilder's "other" 70's breakthrough.
guh. okay. sleepy sleepy bedtime now.
