Yesterday's Gambit
- wadE
After reading Wade's gambit
from yesterday, I got to thinking...which is nothing but trouble.
I think most people in America feel much of the same way that Wade does. That things are well beyond my
control. That politics is no longer for the people by the people, but is for the corporations by the
corporations. That Iraq is quickly becoming the Vietnam of our era.
What can any of us do?
I guess I'll tell you what I do. I support our troops, but I don't support our continued presence
(alone I might add) in Iraq. I definitely
don't vote republican (or green party) this fall. I hope that Kerry can find a way to mend the fences (with
Europe, the Middle East, Asia) that
Bush has destoyed. I worry about our safety more now than I did 2 years ago. I find news out of Iraq is
appalling, but where was the outrage and apologies when the bodies of Americans were burned, dragged through
the streets, and hung?
And then I got too afternoon Twins games.
Being angry and frustrated isn't a bad thing. It's a sign that you are plugged into what is going on, and
while you may not feel the need to join a PAC, or to call your congressman, make sure you at least vote. You
aren't alone in how you feel, and you can make a difference.
