Picture Pages

Remember my political renaissance that I talked about a few days back on these very pages? This article from Sunday's Strib has almost stunted that renaissance in its tracks. The article, by state GOP chief Ron Eibensteiner, can be summed up like this: Those darn Democrats have taken a nasty tone in in political discourse in this state; we Republicans would like to keep everything nice and clean, but we're forced to respond to the evil tactics of the Dems.

I generally dress to the left, and Ron is chief of the other party... but that's irrelevant. In everything I've read lately, both Republicans and Democrats claim that the other party is dragging the debate into the mud, so they have no choice to respond. From the state's bus strike to the presidential race, each side is pointing towards the other, saying that it's only the actions of the other party that's pulling discourse into negativity. And, frankly, it's all a bunch of b.s. Let's face it, no matter who wins the presidency in '04, he will be a graduate of Yale and come from a very wealthy family. Either way, not much like you and me.

So, let's be light and happy. Picture pages, everybody!!!
