Interview Qs

I've been doing a lot of interviewing lately, and the questions I hate the most are those that are sometimes knows as "Microsoft Questions".

These aren't questions about Microsoft the company or their products, it comes from the types of questions that Microsoft is known to ask prospective employees.

As an example, in a interview I had a few month ago I was asked, "How many Christmas wreaths will be sold in the metro area this holiday season?"

Another variant I've heard is, "How many grocery stores are there in the metro area?" The basic idea is not that you actually know the right answer, because the person asking certainly has no idea. The idea is for you to talk through your thought process of how you would come up with your answer.

I can't stand these questions. I understand how they allow for someone to observe your deductive process, but the questions are so ridiculous and obscure that it clouds any genuine process you have.

Check out this page for some more "fun" questions. Most of them are math/logic based questions. A couple are some of my favorite brain teasers, but most are completely ridiculous for an interview...or at least I think so.
