Oh boy oh boy
- Alex
I really didn't think I had anything new to report for today, and was prepared to do something completely off-the-wall (yet again)
for y'all, until I came across this little blurb in the paper:
St. Paul police officers on the downtown beat will soon have one of those new Segway scooters -- which are battery-powered and balanced to run on two wheels -- courtesy of BOMA, the Building Owners and Managers Association.
The City Council still must officially accept the gift, which will be used by officers on downtown streets and in the skyways. The scooter will run for 10 hours on one battery charge.
Oh me. Oh my.
Are you kiddin' me? I'm actually struggling to think of ways to respond to this that aren't cheap, fat cop with a twinkie jokes.
How hard can it be to outrun one of those? And if the cop gets off of the thing to chase a "perp" (if you will), what's to stop someone
from stealing his scooter? Not to mention that, in general, why do we need this particular invention? Get off your fat asses and
WALK, America!
There, I feel a little better. Have a good weekend.
