Do you have a hotmail account?
Have you noticed when you log out that it takes you directly to MSN.com?
The reason I bring this up is that last month after checking my hotmail account and was dumped
to MSN.com, I actually saw a couple articles that sounded interesting (i.e. they were beyond the
usual tabloid stuff).
It sounded like an interesting article about ulcers, acid-reflux, and the like. At the time I had
interest in reading about that sort of thing...cut me some slack. Anyway, so I click on the link,
and it takes me to gerd.msn.com.
For those of you who are too lazy to click on the link, GERD is an acronym for gastroesophageal
reflux disease.
And you can quickly see that the whole site is a thinly veiled commercial for Nexium (the purple
pill). All of the articles (while moderately informative) are there to tell you that just about
everyone suffers from GERD and that AstraZeneca can help!
While I'm not shocked that MSN would stoop so low for money, I am shocked at how many other sites
they have.
volvo.msn.com
qwest.msn.com
visa.msn.com
yellowpages.msn.com
lexus.msn.com
Some are worse than others as far as advertising.
And even if a site isn't branded by one company, they are filled with articles that promote
someone's product. Like:
fitness.msn.com
family.msn.com
houseandhome.msn.com
kids.msn.com
women.msn.com
But no men.msn.com? What gives?
Anything for the almighty dollar...
