Monday Night Footba...zzzzz
- wadE
Maybe I'm just getting old, but watching Monday Night Football has started to become
a chore.
What is most upsetting is that this year there have actually been some great games.
How about week 2 Tampa Bay vs. Philly. Sure it was TB in a semi-blowout, but it was
still an entertaining game...if you stayed awake for it.
Week 3: The Tuna's return to the Meadowlands as coach of the much-hated Cowboys. The
Cowboys win in overtime! Exciting...if you were awake.
Week 5: Possibly one of the best MNF games ever...but no one saw it. Indianapolis
rallies from 21 points with less than four minutes left in the game. Amazing! Me: Zzzzzzz
Week 7: Ok, not the most exciting game ever, but a spirited contest between the
Chiefs and the Raiders. Big AFC East matchup. At least the west coast people were awake
to see the end of this game.
Week 9: Another phenomenal game. Belichick's Pats intentionally take a safety late
in the game to gain 19 yards of field position and only put themselves down by 3 points with
over two minutes left in the game and all of their time outs. The gamble works, they force
the Broncos to punt the ball back (still with more than two minutes on the clock) and drive
for the winning touchdown.
And how do I know this? Because I had to read it the next morning. Sure I could have
sucked it up and stayed up and been cranky this morning (ok, MORE cranky), but how about
the New England fans who had to wait until after midnight to see their team win. Forget
Monday Night Football, let's start calling it Tuesday Morning Football!
