I've been an NTN Trivia geek for seven years now. You know the type-- sitting in a sports bar, trivia box in hand, staring (wordlessly) at a TV while trying to figure out what actor used to lighten the mood on the set by dressing up like a gorilla. (Larry Hagman, in case you're wondering.)
I first got hooked while living in Austin in the summers during college. The only NTN trivia outlet was the Sportts (yes, two "t"s) Bar. (We think that the two "t"s was to emulate Champp's, but we're not sure.) And, yes, this is the same Sportts that features the "clog-your-arteries" burgers that get consumed during the pub crawls. The other cool thing about Sportts is that they aren't that strict about checking IDs, which made for some interesting trivia games way back when.
But that's a gambit for another day.
Last night we (simpleprop geeks along with Chelle and Jason) convened at Scoreboard's restaurant for more trivia fun. As always, good times were had-- despite the painful hour of Oregon questions. Who knew there were that many things in Oregon to write trivia questions about? We all did pretty well, with wadE and Chelle and (I think?) Al winning rounds. Plus our waitron forgot to charge us for a lot of items we ordered-- normally something we wouldn't take advantage of, but he was pretty awful. So we rationalized it. :)
