More Austin In The News

Headline in the Star Tribune today:
Get lost: Austin, Minn., rejects welcome sign.
Seems that the city council turned down a proposal to build a 216-square-foot "Welcome to Austin", even though
10 of the 16K needed to build it would have been donated by companies or citizens.
First off...$16,000 to build a sign that's less than 15 feet by 15 feet square? I think I'm in the wrong
business.
Ok ok...before I get hate mail from the sign makers union, I'm sure there is more to sign making than meets
the eye.
Secondly, this doesn't surprise me. The only reason for people to get off of I-90 in Austin (although they have
a whopping 7 exits to do so) is the SPAM Museum. By the way, I highly recommend the SPAM Museum, it's about the
classiest thing in Austin.
Yes, I do realize what a ridiculous statement that is.
