Fine. I'll admit it. Today I'm being a lazy bastard. Well, not lazy. Going to have trouble working in time for a Gambit between two morning meetings and finding a replacement 2B for my fantasy team. (No good Jerry Hairston Jr. and his weak ankles.)
I could not leave you in more capable hands, however-- the link below leads you to a story (an open letter actually) on the thrill of voting by Sarah Vowell. I was turned onto Vowell by listening to some of her work on NPR's This American Life. I've now read all of her books and she's quickly become my new favorite essayist. I'm not sure why I like her so much-- perhaps the many references to shared pop culture, perhaps her unabashed excitement about civics, or maybe it's that cute speech impediment of hers. :) Whatever it is, it's good stuff.
