Boostin' Houston

Will wonders never cease? Wade actually liked something Robin Williams
performed in.
Color me shocked, color me surprised, Color Me Badd...
Ahem...but I digress.
Today I find myself in Houston Texas! My lovely job has taken me back on the road, but
for how long I'm not sure. This may be my only week in Houston. The last time I was in
Houston was 2.5 years ago, and surprisingly not much has changed. There is a Best Western,
Sonic, and Waffle House at the on ramp to the highway I used to take leaving the airport...
is the Waffle House the Starbucks of the south? There seems to be one popping up on
every corner.
The last time I was down in Houston I took a trip to Enron Field...while the field is
still here, Enron is not. In an effort not to be outdone by Tropicana Field, Minute Maid
stepped up, and replaced Enron. While Tropicana Field doesn't sound all that imposing,
Minute Maid Field is far worse. Any sports venue with "Maid" in the name just doesn't work.
With any luck I'll sneak in a game this week (the Cardinals are in town), and I'll get
another chance to enjoy one of the best baseball parks in the country.
Other than that, Houston is still a miserably hot and humid city. Yesterday it was in
90's with 90+ percent humidity. Today a strong cold front is coming through, which will
keep temps in the 80's... ooooh, brrrr....
Couple that with the fabulous air quality (2nd only to LA, and actually was rated worse
than LA for a period of time) and you've got yourself a recipie for fun! Oh, and don't
forget about the fabulous traffic!
But seriously, it's a fun city...great people, good food. As long as you don't mind
sweating, you'll love it!
Full report on my trip to the ballpark later this week!
