Charles Nelson Reilly Day!
- Alex
I hereby declare today, March 6, to be Charles Nelson Reilly Day here at SP.com!
Many of you may be asking "Dear God, why?", and that's an excellent and valid question. I say, why not? (Which, as we've already discussed
here, is the best answer you can give to any possible question.) In addition to
that, I was really sick last night and couldn't finish the project I originally intended for this space.
Besides, the man is an American Institution.
See?
Really though, this all came about from Pete's offhand comment that CNR should be the guest star on the TV show 24 this season. Since then,
the sister sib and I haven't been letting it go. I should point out that it's mostly her, but that I get the giggles from it anyway. Case in point,
an email last night commenting on the mystery caller shown in the previews for next week's episode:
"Do you think that mystery villain from the previews is Charles Nelson Reilly??"
Raise your hands if, at this point, even with the pictures, you're still asking "Who the hell is Charles Nelson Reilly?" It's ok if you are.
Let's consult the trusty Imdb.com and see what else the venerable Chuck's been in.
Perhaps you remember him as psychic Jose Chung from his guest turn on the TV show The X-Files:
No? Well, you're probably out of luck, then, unless you're big into the GameShow Network and can watch reruns of the Match Game. Or if you happen
to be a huge Dom DeLuise fan and remember Chuck from Cannonball Run II (Yep, that's right, he wasn't good enough for the original). OR, you
could head on down to your local Hollywood Video and see if they've got a copy of the smash 2002 hit,
Gaydar! That link is worth clicking on just to read the Plot Outline... in any case, CNR plays Uncle Vincent. Ahh, reading further down the
IMDB page, it says this is a short. Thank goodness, although I have to wonder what it was attatched to. And holy crap - Jim J Bullock is in it too!
I really ought to go find this, it could easily rate six Trents...
In any case, feel free to wish your Co-Workers a Happy Charles Nelson Reilly Day at work, and just see how quickly they can call the nuthouse on
you. I'm out, see ya on Tuesday! Oh, and here's what CNR thinks of you all:
