The Flood of '04

- Alex

I know that we're not the site that you've come to expect hard-hitting timely news reports from... and that's certainly not going to change. But mom sent me some photos of the major hometown flooding, taken by none other than my dear ol' dad. So I thought that the Wades would definitely want to see these, and the rest of you might as well too. They're cool.

First off:

If you can picture it, there's a road that runs right in front of the line of trees that you can see, more or less right through the back half of that group of ducks. There's also a road off to the right, just past where the people are on the right hand side. There's a river off in the background, and a pond off-screen to the front left. Both have definitely flooded.

The next four pictures are part of a series...

Ok, scroll up to the top of this article and look at our main logo. Can you see the second bridge behind the first one? Yeah, this picture is taken standing on the first bridge, looking at the second one. Nice, huh?

Now go across to the left side of the street, past the second bridge, and look across where the street should be. That's where this building is. Note the street light that's close to being submerged.

For this picture, stay standing in the same spot, but turn 90 degrees to your left. You can see this gas station if you look closely at the background of the picture from the bridge, if you need a little perspective. If it helps, this is on the cross street from the previous picture, if you took a left turn at the submerged streetlight.

And finally, this picture is from the same spot as the last two, after another 90 degree turn to the left. (Or, if you're keen on the driving analogy, if you took a left turn at the submerged streetlight, this is just up the street past the underwater Sinclair station). :)

Anyway, there ya go. Kudos to my pops for taking the pictures. I think they're really cool. I'm outtie.
